Hector Ibarra is Managing Director at financial giant Citigroup. Currently responsible for Shared Services in Latin America he oversees more than 4,000 employees across Mexico, South America, Central America & Caribbean, including Brazil and its transactional Service Center in Costa Rica.
With almost 20 years in the company where he started in Operations at Banamex, Mexico’s Citi brand, he has risen through the ranks to become part of the Global O&T leadership team.
His most recent challenge in the last few years has been to lead a shared services strategy for Enterprise Supply Chain, Financial Reporting Operations, Payroll, and Risk & Control among other functions. Responsible for more than 7 billion USD in regional spend his team has delivered savings and efficiencies of 30% on average for the last three years on the processes that have shifted to the new model.
Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and BI, Cybersecurity, and Cloud services have contributed to such spectacular results.
2013 has placed Latin America as the leading region for this operating global initiative exporting many best practices to Asia Pacific.
Among previous roles, Hector has been Regional Enterprise Supply Chain Head, Procurement Regional Head, Corporate Services Director, and Operations Director. He has also served as Board Member on some subsidiaries legal vehicles.
He enjoys being a speaker, providing consultancy for top companies including pro bono for women and minority owned businesses.
Hector holds a Masters degree in Economics from Universidad Anahuac, a Bachelors degree from Universidad Iberoamericana, a Finance Specialization from Tecnologico de Monterrey, and has attended business courses at IPADE, MIT, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and Georgetown, among others. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner.
